Microcredit and Women & Youth Empowerment in Togo, Ghana, Rwanda, and DRC
•500 families were the beneficiaries of small loans ($50 to $150) in Togo.
•2,500 Women and Youth Entrepreneurs received business loans in Upper West Region of Ghana ($500 to $2,000).
•350 Women received quick loans ($50 dollars to $150 dollars in North Kivu DRC).
Training
•2000 women received training in income-generating activities and received financial and material support in regions throughout Somalia: Afmadow, Hagar, and Dhobley.Ghana, Togo
National Volunteers and Citizenship Education Program For Economic And Social Development in Togo
•Three seminars, which trained 300 National Volunteers for Economic and Social Development at the local level.
•Three seminars, which trained 50 women leaders on child rights and education.
Education, Cultural And Professional Exchange Program in Togo and Benin
•Implemented education, cultural and professional exchange program with the financial support of School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA Virginia Tech), and participating Universities, Virginia Tech and the University of Oregon.
SE International Institutional Development And Institutional Strengthening And Youth Leadership Entrepreneurship Development accomplishments projects
•Social Entrepreneurs International organized three large seminars with more than 200 Local NGOs leaders and put in place The First Network of Professionals for Development in Togo, Benin and Ghana, Africa (REPONGD). •SE International, the Technical University of WA, and the University of Kara organized a tripartite group conference in Accra that brought together almost 100 partners, donors, government institutions, and embassy representatives to discuss entrepreneurship development in schools, modern agriculture, education, cultural and technical exchange program focusing on entrepreneurship among youth in Sub Sahara Africa, and entrepreneurship and financial education for government worker retirees in Africa. •Five workshops were organized in Togo’s regions of WA Upper West, Bolgatanga, Upper East, Kara, and Lome to bring together almost 1,000 unemployed youth to consider alternative solutions for job creation in the art and agriculture sectors.
SE International Socio-Economic Development Projects accomplishments:
•Water point management studies were conducted in DRC in collaboration with partners from North Kivu. •Two studies were conducted on water, agriculture, and SMEs for women and youth. •SE International launched a five-year, experimental project with 3,000 women in Upper West Region in Ghana focused on how to improve the rural financial loans system and create a new financial system for women and youth named VSLAplus. •A study on youth involvement in modern agriculture was conducted in Ghana, with the goal of halting youth migration. •Studies on youth entrepreneurship and modern agriculture were conducted in Kara and the Plateau Regions in Togo.
